Grandma’s Helpers, LLC is dedicated to Bobbie’s Grandma – Bertie Dobson, who passed away in 1996.

Grandma Dobson was truly a beautiful blossom in her world.

Bobbie Goodridge is sole proprietor of Grandma’s Helpers, LLC.   As a Certified Relocation and Transition Specialist (CRTS), she is dedicated to reducing the stress of the physical, emotional and organizational aspects of home transitions for seniors, baby boomers and their families.  As an active member of G.R.A.P.E. ~ Greater Rochester Area Partnership for the Elderly ~ and NASMM ~ National Association of Senior Move Managers ~ she is an advocate for older adults and continually strives for a better understanding of the issues we face as aging Americans.

Bobbie spent 25 years in “Corporate America” with a focus on scheduling & planning, but also held professional positions in accounting, office management and project management.

Originally from Colorado, Bobbie was transplanted to Henrietta 20 years ago and now calls Upstate New York home. She enjoys spending time with her husband and their children, playing with her grandchildren, reading sci-fi fantasy novels, crocheting, travel and her two Siberian Huskies.

In the summer of 1998, her mom passed down her great-great grandma's hand sewn quilt, great grandma's oak kitchen table and chairs, and  grandma's thread crocheted bedspread.  This sparked a fire and she began her self education in antiques and collectibles.  In the summer of 2003 she decided to pursue a professional certification as a Personal Property Appraiser.  She began attending courses in Appraisal Studies sponsored by the American Society of Appraisers at the University of Tennessee and various locations throughout the United States.  She  created her own research library, spends numerous hours doing research and continues her education in the field of Appraisal Studies.

Margot Long lives in Honeoye Falls with her husband and with a delightful Golden Retriever and a feisty black cat.  Margot enjoys spending time with her family, including her daughter in college and her one hundred year old mother, who lives near by, and with friends.  She also enjoys gardening, cross country skiing, yoga, taking brisk walks, cooking, reading, singing, and playing the piano.

Margot retired in 2003 from a 36 year career working with deaf youngsters and their families.  She has held many professional positions including teacher, mental health clinician, supervisor, educational consultant, and graduate course instructor.

After Margot’s retirement, she took some time to decide what to do next.  As she thought about the activities that had brought her the most satisfaction, what continued to come to mind were her experiences helping an aunt, an uncle, and then her parents downsize and move from their homes to senior living communities.  In 2005 she began working with Bobbie Goodridge, who had an already-established household liquidation business, to build a new aspect of the business that offers a full range of senior move management services.

Margot has her Master of Arts in Education, a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Supervision & Administration and recently earned her Certification in Gerontology from St. John Fisher College/ Lifespan.  She is an active member of G.R.A.P.E. and NASMM.  She loves using her interpersonal, supervisory, and organizational skills to help seniors move.

Kathy has lived in Fairport for over thirty years, although she originally hails from Indiana where her three brothers and most of the rest of her family reside.  She has a married daughter who lives with her own family in Massachusetts, north of Boston.  In this family are Kathy's grandson and granddaughter, her pride and joy.  Kathy's favorite pastimes are spending time with her family and friends, as well as reading, golfing, gardening, and occasional redecorating.  She is also surprised by a renewed interest in cooking now that there's a bit more time available to her.

Kathy retired in December of 2006 from a lengthy career in Speech Pathology where her focus was in the field of Deafness.  As a Speech Therapist she worked directly with students of all ages for many years and then moved into a position as Director of Speech/Communication and Audiology Programs.  She served on pivotal educational teams such as the Evaluation Team and the Learning Disabilities Task Force.  She also served on professional boards in the Rochester area related to the profession of Speech Pathology.  She has presented workshops to graduate students at several colleges.  Kathy continues her connection with deafness by offering workshops or personal consultation regarding the use of sign language with hearing children to promote early language growth and, in addition, she performs speech and language evaluations on an occasional basis. Kathy is a New York State Licensure in Speech Pathology with a Master of Science in Speech Pathology, Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech/Language/Hearing Association and a recipient of the ACE Award for Continuing Education.

Kathy wished to become involved in another rewarding endeavor following her retirement.  A second career that provided direct service to people was most attractive.  Work that required people and organization skills was ideal. As she learned about the industry of Senior Move Management, the more she heard, the more she was drawn to the profession!!  Kathy essentially feels that helping seniors is, in some way, a form of giving back to her own mother who has passed away.
